Co. Durham composer  / harpist / songwriter Aurora Engine (Deborah Shaw) unveils Engine Shed -  an evocative series of new compositions, soundscapes and songs about North-Eastern railway heritage.

Blending field recordings from George Stephenson’s Twizell and local stations  in the area with cinematic string arrangements, harp, electronics and ethereal vocals, Engine Shed brings forgotten stories of the railways to life. The work explores how engines and machines have shaped our world since the Industrial Revolution, for better and for worse and also explores  in often unheard stories of women and the railways, their roles and experiences.

The tour opens in Newcastle Victoria Tunnel on 21st November , alongside the release of Aurora Engine’s striking new single Coaldust on Powdered Lips, the first glimpse of an EP due out  in 2026.

Performances feature Aurora Engine (harp, vocals) with the acclaimed Tessaris String Quartet.
